What is Cross Border Xpress?

Cross Border Xpress is a pedestrian bridge that allows crossing the border between the United States and Mexico; however, it is for the exclusive use of passengers at the Tijuana International Airport. This border crossing is composed of an elevated and fully covered bridge of 120 meters that connects the airport in the city of Tijuana, on the Mexican side, with a station in the state of California, in the US.

If you want to cross this bridge you must present the respective travel documents, which can vary according to your nationality, and a CBX ticket that you can buy at the counters in the baggage claim area of the airport.

Best transportation options from CBX to different destinations in the U.S.

Booking a rental car with Miles Car Rental and picking it up at the border bridge is the best way to move between CBX and the most popular destinations in the United States. Book now to experience comfortable and budget-friendly transportation from this spot. Here are the options frequent tourists prefer:

  • A compact car: Whether traveling solo or with a partner, a compact car is just the right size, ensuring comfort and affordability as you venture towards Downtown San Diego or the cities you can find halfway between both destinations: Chula Vista and National City.
  • An SUV: Designed for adventurers eager to explore the CBX surroundings and uncover California's natural marvels. An SUV can take you wherever you want, from the Otay Mountain Wilderness Area to Joshua Tree National Park, even on a journey to Las Vegas through Nevada's desert.
  • A minivan: If you are traveling with a large group, renting a van or minivan is the cheapest way to get around the United States. Enjoy more space for a larger number of passengers and head to Northern California cities such as Los Angeles or San Francisco.

There are also other transportation alternatives such as the Shuttle or public transportation, but those usually require you to walk distances of up to twenty minutes to reach the respective stops, not to mention that their costs can be very high.
